Love God, Love Learning, Love One Another

Spring Term 2 has started off with a ‘POW’ ‘ZAP’ ‘KABOOM’ - Supertato has arrived in EYFS and has caused quite a stir… 🥔 🦸🏻🦸🏽‍♂️

On Ash Wednesday we received our ashes. 🙏🏻✝️💜We all made our Lenten Promises and prayed for Peace… 🤍🕊

Shrove Tuesday - The children learnt about the Shrove Tuesday and now know that a long time ago people who clear out their pantry to use up ingredients to make pancakes. Today we made pancakes and ate them in Mr Wolf’s Cafe. We had some delicious toppings to choose from such as chocolate spread, ice cream, strawberry sauce, lemon and sugar. We listened to lots of stories and sang the pancake song. 🥞

Today we have work with Severn Trent to build a ‘Tiny Forest’. Nursery and Reception helped to plant the trees 🌳 🌲.

✏️ In Reception we are learning to write a sentence… remember to use a full stop, capital letters and a finger space!

Children’s Mental Health Week 🧖🏻‍♀️💗 We have been building on our knowledge of how to take care of our minds. Each week in PE we promote ‘Healthy Bodies’ and ‘Healthy Minds’. The children had opportunities to relax, talk and unwind and take some time for ‘Me Time’. We had a foot spa for tired toes, calming music and cucumber for tired eyes and hand massages for busy fingers. The feedback from children, parents and staff was fantastic, so we are building ‘Me Time’ into our half termly practice. 🧖🏻‍♀️💗

Baptism 🙏🏻✝️ In our RE teaching and learning this week, we have been finding out about Baptism. The children shared their own experiences of Baptism by sending in their photographs. The children have learnt about the service in Church, Godparents, the font, holy water and we found about the Baptism of the Lord. The children created their own Baptism at school and have returned daily to Baptise the baby. 🙏🏻✝️

Wow! Look at our writing. We have been working hard to form our letters correctly, sit them on and below the line and write sentences. Leo was very proud of his work…

Friday 4th February was Number Day at St Anne’s… in Nursery and Reception we enjoyed lots of number activities. The children came to school dressed in numbers, we watched NumberBlocks and went on number hunts!

🐉 We used the musical instruments, Chinese music and movement to creat a Dragon Dance. The children listened to the beat of the drums, moved up and down using the dragon costume and made loud and quiet sounds using the instruments.

Kung Hei Fat Choy 🇨🇳🐅 This week we have been celebrating The Chinese New Year, the year of the tiger. 🇨🇳🐅

We have been busy working with an artist creating this wonderful Noah’s Ark art work. The children loved using different materials to create the picture. We listened to the story, talked about our favourite parts of the story and we were very proud of the end product. Our piece of art is being displayed in the local community, for everyone to see.

⭐️Dojo Winners… Every week the children work hard to be awarded with Dojo Points, at home and at school. The children are excited each Friday to find out who the Dojo winner is… Will it be you next week?

'The Three Little Pigs.'
This week our focus text has been The Three Little Pigs. The children learnt the story from both the story book and using the actions of 'Pie Corbett.' We have also been learning all about numbers, concentrating on the number 'One' where the children took part in fun number matching activities. During this term in Maths we will be looking closer into cardinal principle. The children had fun creating their own junk model houses and recreating the story in the tuff tray with props. Outside we have been revisiting positional language and using our gross motor skills to build our own strong houses. Using fine motor pencil control and our imaginations we drew our own houses and spoke about the story, shapes and the houses we live in too.
