Today we have hosted a very special celebration here at St. Anne’s. We have had the pleasure of putting on a graduation ceremony for our school starting children. We are so proud of all of their achievements, despite it being a bit of a different year due to COVID-19. Our parents and family members joined us live on Zoom to wish all of the children well. We send prayers of thanks and hope for all of our children moving forward and we ask St. Anne to watch over our children as they continue their learning journey.
🏅Going for Gold!🏅
As a part of our Going for Gold programme within the Holy Spirit Mac, we have spent some time learning about the Olympics and how we can go for gold at home and in school. We have tested our strength and balancing skills today on a giant inflatable assault course, we had lots and lots of fun running and jumping throughout the different sections. At the end with slid down a big slide. It was lots of fun! How will you go for gold this year?
This week we have been learning all about the Olympics! We started off by tuning in our good listening and good looking during our PE lesson, we looked at moving around the big hall and negotiating the space around us.
On Thursday we hosted our very own mini Olympics in the big garden. We ran around the track, did the long jump and threw the javelin. We also created some Olympic artwork and discussed what our sport would be if we entered in the Olympics when we are older. What is your favourite sport?
What a lovely first week back, we have truly been blessed with fantastic weather. We have started to look at Read Write Inc and the initial sound m and how we can write it. Some of our Nursery friends have a m at the start of their name too! We have started our new topic of Vocations, Journeys and Destinations within this we have started to look at those that might help us such as the fire men and police.
Today we have had a collective worship to mark Pentecost. We have read the story from the Bible and created our own flames. We have discussed that the fire did not hurt Jesus’ friends , but it was a sign for them.
To conclude our collective worship we have looked at how Peter said we should say sorry for the things we have done wrong and then Jesus will be our friend, we have each said sorry for something we have done that might not have been right. ‘I am sorry for using my unkind hands’ ‘I am sorry for making my room a mess at home’ ‘I am sorry for shouting at my daddy’
Reading Tea Party ☕️
This week our morning children have read lots and lots and lots! We have read more than any other class in the whole school! As a special treat we were invited to a tea party. We listened to our favourite music and ate lots of cakes, chocolates biscuits. We even used real cups and saucers! Thank you Mrs Hubbard and Miss Gillin!☕️🍪🧁
Today we had a very special visit from Cool Critters. The Nursery children were very brave and touched, held and stroked a variety of unusual critters. We used our good looking eyes and our listening ear to learn lots of facts about the animals that were presented to us… did you know that snakes loose all of their skin when it gets too tight? The children’s highlight was holding Mia the snake around their neck!🦎🐍🐢🐌
Today’s challenge was to explore measurement within Nursery. We discussed that we are all different heights and we compared our feet to see who has big, medium and small sized feet. As an extra challenge we used the cubes to measure some of our toys. ‘My baby is 10 cubes long!’.
Check out our bananas!🍌
Some one has been into Nursery overnight and drawn on our bananas! We have had lots of fun guessing the which number is on our snack and showing it off to our friends. We have played who has the largest number, and who has the smallest number! Do you have numbers on your bananas?
Check out or climbing frame! Today we have been on the big climbing frame and looked at playground safety and how we can build strong 💪🏼. We explored the different ways of getting to the top of the frame and which one was the most challenging. We used our strong legs to help push us up the walls and our muscly arms to pull us up the ropes. Once we reached the top we slid down and repeated the process again! It was lots of fun exploring the climbing frame!
Healthy Eating 🥒🥑🍓
It is very important to eat healthily to look after our bodies. Today we have been ordering different foods into sections of ‘healthy’ or ‘unhealthy’. We took it in turns to select a food and place it where we thought it would go. We all agreed that fruits and vegetables are very important for our bodies and that chocolates or sweets are ok to have as a treat! Lastly we discussed different drinks- milk and water are very good for our bodies and fizzy pop is a special treat!
What do you eat to be healthy?🍓🥑🥒
🎵Movement to Music 🎶
In this weeks PE session we have tuned in our good listening ears to dance and move to music. We went into the big hall and explored all of the space. We firstly warmed our bodies up and discussed how our heart starts to beat faster when we get moving. We then proceeded to dance and move to the instructions of the songs to take us on an adventure. We went to the moon and even pretended to be dinosaurs.🦖🚀
This week we have put our gymnast hats on and looked at how we can balance. We used our balance beam indoors and outdoors and looked at strategies that could help us improve our balance. We tried, tried and tried again to get all the way across the beam and of course we succeeded! 💪🏼
Italian Day 🍕🇮🇹
Today we have had a special Italian themed day in Nursery. We experienced and shared the Italian culture as one of our families lived in Italy. We discussed what the weather might be like and practiced saying good morning in Italian!
We carefully planned and made our own pizzas with a selection of toppings and tasted some pasta and crostata. It was very delicious! We shared our food and had a picnic. We also took this time to thank God for our wonderful friends and their different cultures. 🇮🇹
🍃Being Creative Outdoors🍃
This week we have been spending lots of time outdoors. For our Work Outside Wednesday session we made our own mini gardens, explored printing with natural materials and pouring and transferring sand.
Happy Easter to all of our families and friends! This week we have learnt about the Easter story and the sacrifice Jesus made for us. We held a special collective worship with our palm crosses and thought about this important time.
We also baked some chocolate Easter cakes- they tasted delicious! We made and decorated our own bunny head bands for our egg hunt and sang
lots of Easter songs!
Sending prayers of thanks and hope to all of our community at this special time.
National Day Of Reflection
Today marks a whole year since the first lockdown due to the Corona Virus. We have gathered together in Nursery for a collective worship to thank God for keeping us safe and to thank our amazing key workers for all of their hard work. We joined together and shared our drawings of a rainbow that we had wrote some special words of thanks on. We pray for those that have passed on to heaven, for those that have struggles financially and those that have been effected by this virus. We pray for a brighter year ahead , for good health and protection.
Ten Crazy Ladybirds 🐞
We have moved onto a new book in Nursery... Ten Crazy Ladybirds! We have been discovering what lady birds are today and where we might find them. We have also explored a range of activities that compliment this book during our choosing time. We have painted ladybirds with pom-poms and packing peanuts, counted the spots onto the lady birds and even made play dough ladybirds!
This week we shave been superstars yet again! As a special treat we have spent the day creating some fabulous art work. We have painted our own plant pots and then planted some seeds- can you guess what we have grown? We have also taken part in a challenge, we have drawn some of our favourite fruits and persevered until it was complete. We have also created a beautiful self portrait and looked closely at our facial features!
In Nursery we love to play, explore and learn outside. Each week we spend some time in our big garden choosing some activities that we would like to do. The Nursery children love to play with the cars, bikes and even help Mrs P plant some seeds...I wonder what we could be growing?🥬🥦🍐
Pollock is a very brilliant painter who uses drips and splats within his work. We have all practiced painting just like him using bright colours and runny paint. It was quite messy!!!
Take a look at our beautiful art work!
In Nursery we love to explore music. This week during our carpet time we have learnt the names of some instruments and how to use them correctly. We have sang some lovely nursery rhymes and even put on a show for our teachers. The children have all been superstars at showing how we use our instruments respectfully and listening to our instrument rules.
We have also played our instruments to one of our favourite songs- Our God Is A Great Big God!
This week all of the Nursery children have been amazing! As a special treat for being fantastic Mrs Hubbard and Mrs Smith brought us all ICE CREAM!!🍦 A big big thank you to all of the children for making the return to Nursery such a special one, and of course thank you to our parents for your continued support throughout this time.
We are so happy to be back at St Anne’s and open the doors again to our children. We have missed our beautiful setting so much and seeing the children enjoy it every day. We have had a week of fun, games and learning to settle us back into our Nursery routines. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the spring term brings!
We hope you enjoyed making and eating your pancakes for Shrove Tuesday. Today is Ash Wednesday- it is a Holy day in the Church of Prayer and Fasting. It leads us into Lent which is a time of reflection and preparation before we celebrate Easter. During Lent we pray, fast and give. How will you prepare, reflect and give- just as Jesus did?
When we return to nursery we will begin our Lenten journey as we pass our prayers to each other daily. We would normally send home our prayer bag, however we are unable to do this at the moment, so we will be creative instead! We cannot wait to exchange prayers and thanks with you this term!
A big, big well done to all of the children and parents at home! Without your support this term all that we have achieved would not be possible. Today we have been celebrating all of our hard work with a party! We have dropped off a party bag filled with some treats for the children to enjoy to their door steps and we have loved to see the children enjoying their goodies! Have a safe and happy half term everyone!
Today we have made our own pancakes using flour, eggs and milk. We mixed it up in a big bowl and watched it turn into batter. We then helped Mrs Palfreman cook them in the pan and we even tried to flip them over! Once cooked we added on all of our favourite toppings such as; jam, sugar and chocolate sauce!
During these uncertain times it is important to take the time to talk to God. At home we have been showing our families how we make the Sign of the Cross and how we say our daily prayers. Today we have taken the time to thank God for something or someone special in our lives. We joined together and showed off our good listening whilst others shared their special item or who their special person was. We said that we are thankful for our; mummies, daddies, dogs, cats and even said thank you for all of our lovely toys. What would you like to thank God for today?
It is very important that we stay fit and healthy whilst not in Nursery. We have been joining in with lots of PE at home such as; Cosmic Kids Yoga, PE with Joe, fun dances and lots of long muddy walks! We he been using our senses whilst our walking this week and finding things that we can see, hear, taste, smell and touch!
Here at St Anne’s Nursery we love to read! We love all kinds of books and we love to share them with our teachers, friends and family. Whilst our learning may look a little different at the moment we have still made time to share lots of lovely stories. We have shared books through both Zoom and pre-recorded videos from our teachers. We have also been reading lots at home for enjoyment throughout the day. We have also enlisted the help of our older siblings at times to give us a helping hand!
This week we have looked at our feelings and emotions. We have linked our feelings to our focus book of the week ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and discussed how the pigs may have felt at different points throughout the book. Although we may be continuing to learn at home, we always know that there is a grown up we can talk to about our feelings and that our nursery teachers are always there for us. Today we have been set a mission, we are going to do one thing to make another person smile!
Here at St Anne’s Nursery we are always here for you!💕🌈
This week we have been very busy visiting all of our children who are currently learning from home. The EYFS team have delivered a pack of ingredients to make shortbread and we have made them together through Zoom. This has provided us a lovely chance to see all of the children that we are missing greatly and has given the children a multitude of learning opportunities. 📚🥣
Baking together as a family has given the children the opportunity to explore; weight and measure, shape, following instructions, ordering activities, kitchen safety, exploring the senses, fine and gross motor activities and many more...
We have loved to see all of the children creating their shortbread and we can’t wait for our next parent project!
Here at St. Anne’s Nursery we are keeping busy at home with our online learning. We have been looking at the number 1, 2 and 3 this term and exploring various stories such as The Three Billy Goats Gruff and The Three Little Pigs! Come and take a look at some of our fabulous work...
We have been keeping our bodies fit and healthy by joining in with various PE challenges at home. Our in school PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you child is attending nursery on Tuesdays and Thursdays please dress them appropriately for PE. ⚽️🎾🥏
Not only have we been getting our bodies moving, we have also been working very hard at building up our hand muscles in a variety of ways. We really enjoy singing songs and using our play dough. Every day we go to the Dough Disco and join in with our favourite songs. 🎵🎶
Although we cannot be all together at the moment we are joining together on Zoom twice a day. We are meeting at 10am and 2pm daily. We love to play games, sing songs and read lots of stories together on our calls, as well as doing lots of fun learning. On Fridays we join together in smaller groups on Zoom to do Show and Tell and to play some fun games such as I spy. The early years team are also sending out lots of fun videos. We are rewarding the children for all of their hard work through Class Dojo and two winners are selected each week. This is also our main route of communication with parents. 💻📚✏️
This term we have introduced our Parent Projects. Every other Friday we come to visit the children on their doorsteps and drop off a project socially distanced. So far we have delivered bird seeds and bird watching sheets to complete the Big Birdwatch. We have also made bird feeders. This week we are making some delicious short bread biscuits to talk about the senses, weight, shape and kitchen safety. 🍪🥣🍽
We love seeing what the children have been up to whilst learning at home and we can’t wait to see what they get up to in the coming weeks!🌈
