Looking forward to seeing the photos!
I have scheduled our class call on Zoom on Friday 3rd July (this Friday) at 1:30pm!
Please could you download Zoom before the meeting or if you already have it on your device, please update the app in your settings to version 5.01 as this has all the up to date security settings (you may well have done this already though).
If you need any help, please Dojo me as soon as possible so we can get you sorted before the meeting on Friday!
Meeting ID: 759 2118 0178
Password: 5zMQ2d
Can I ask that everyone mutes their microphones for the meeting to start with and give us a massive wave,
then we will all take it in turns to talk! Everyone will get to speak and see each other,
but can we just try our best to be respectful to our friends so everyone can join in.
I am really looking forward to seeing you all.
Mrs Luckman
Continuing with our 'Ready for Reception Challenge' - today can you start your morning by standing on one leg? How long can you hold yourself for? Can you count how many seconds you can balance for? Count nice and loud and see how long you can balance!
Yay! It is a 'Fun Friday' and for our 'Day 14 - Ready for Reception' Challenge we are going to be meeting on zoom today!! I can't wait to see you all! The Challenge today will be to be kind to your friends when you see them! You will need to think about 'The right time to talk' I will help you to do this, remember we need to take turns because if we don't then we won't be able to hear what each other is saying and you won't get your chance to say hello! So let's try our best to wait for the right time to talk!
I can't wait to see you all, I am so excited! XX
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Morning all! It is Thursday today and I thought for our 'Day 13' challenge we could revisit some of the activities we have done previously and catch up on any activities we haven't had time to do. So have a look back on this page at the daily 'Ready for Reception Challenges' and see what you think you need to do again and what do you need a bit more practise on. For example maybe you need to practise putting on your shoes, or writing your name?!? Maybe you didn't get chance to do put your toys in order of size or you didn't get chance to do the 'Cosmic Yoga' activity...
Also I know that some of you have found it hard to write you numbers, I have seen that lots of you have been practising, if you want to do more practise today here are the number rhymes that we use in class to help you form the numbers!
Morning everyone, it is 'Work Outside Wednesday' but it might be a little bit wet to work outside today! Hopefully you can get outside later and have a go at these wonderful challenges
sent in by some of our Nursery children!
This is Day 13 of your 'Ready for Reception Challenge!
Thank you for all your photos yesterday - please send more today too!
Have a go at this number activity – Start by talking about the numbers around you inside your home or outside on a walk – Numbers are all around us, from calendars to the remote control and the telephone . Try pointing out numbers if you’re out and about when you go for a walk, you will see numbers on the front of buses and on road signs for certain. Perhaps you can see numbers if you look out of the window? Maybe on front doors and on to car registration plates. Talking about numbers around you early and often will help your child to recognise numerals and show them that numbers are part of everyday life. You could even go on a number hunt!
This is a number challenge – Show your child these number lines – See if they can spot the missing numbers! They may find this tricky so be prepared to work through the concept with them and write it out again on paper. If they struggle, focus on reading the numbers and counting with them...
1 _ 3 _ 5
0 _ 2 _ 4
See if your child can create their own number line with missing numbers for you to solve! :)
Here is activity that develops mouth articulation and strength for speech...
You don’t have to go outside to enjoy bubbles but today looks like the weather is ok, so why not get outside for this one. For this game, you need a plate and straw for each player, some dishwashing soap and water. Place a 10p size drop of dish soap at the centre of each plate. Pour a little water onto the plate and gently mix with the dish soap until some suds start to form. The children cab place the straw in the suds and blow very gently. Watch as massive bubbles start to form. To make this competitive, see who blows the biggest, or longest-lasting, bubble.
To get fingers ready for Day 12's activity lets start by warming up your hands and fingers by doing some 'Finger Aerobics'. Remember These warm up movements should be completed prior to any writing activity for the best results! Have a go!
Here is one of the Youtube videos that you can find to help you with your 'Finger Aerobics. There are lots of videos on Youtube just google 'Finger Aerobics for kids'.
Good morning everyone! I hope you are all happy and well today and have had a wonderful half term break.
Today is the first day of the week – Can you work out what day it is today? Remember our 'Days of the week song'? Sing the song to your family!
Today’s first activity is a fine motor physical activity to improve your child’s finger strength and hand/eye coordination. Below is a selection of hand movements/actions to do with your to improve these skills. These warm up movements should be completed prior to any writing activity for the best results! Have a go!
Now you are all warmed up... lets learn and write a new sound from our 'Read Write Inc' programme. But first revisit the 'mmmmmm' sound we learned before half term and see what your children remember.
After that we are focusing on the individual ‘a’ phonic sound card (image 1), as we show the children this picture we repeat the sound 'a a a a a' and say then say 'apple' get the children to join in with you. Now we can practise the written formation of ‘a’. Demonstrate the written formation of the ‘a’ by tracing the letter over the 'a' card and saying the ‘around the apple and down the leaf’. Do this a few times and then encourage your child to do the same. After that show your child how to form the letter on pen and paper, keep saying the rhyme as you write! Once they are confident with the ‘a’ formation develop their ability by practising on smaller lines a few more times.
I have scheduled our class call on Zoom on Friday 5th (this Friday) at 1:30pm!

It is a windy day today so I thought it would be great to watch this story called 'Shark in the park on a windy day'. Nick Sharrott is the author of this book he also drew all the illustrations, he is one of my favourite authors! Let me know what you think of the story! Follow the link below:
https://youtu.be/R2RwvAHUAdc
Talk with adults and older brothers and sisters about what an author is and what an illustrator does!
Day 9 challenge is to just have fun, if you feel like it you could have a go at any of the challenges you haven't done... but honestly the choice is yours! Have a beautiful day playing and enjoying the sunshine! Much love to you all! Stay safe xx
Oh, haha, I can see my feet in the photo, I need some more practise at taking photographs don't I! See how I used different materials to write the letter 'm'. I loved dripping the water to create my letter, was such good fun!
Also can you find anything outside that begins with the 'm' sound? I saw a 'magpie' yesterday didn't I, that begins with the 'm' sound!
Remember to always as an adult if you can use different things to do your writing! And if you make a bit of a mess you should tidy up! Here is our tidy up song if you need it!
Day 7 of our 'Ready for Reception' challenge!
It is a 'Terrific Tuesday' and here is 'Ready for Reception', we are doing so well that i thought that we could go bananas and do some 5 year old learning! Send me photo's if you can as I would love to see how you get on. In the Maths challenge if you don't know all your numbers to 10 yet, your adult will help you order the numbers you don't know. Do what you can, we are all learning and if you don't know how to do it yet, you soon will if we keep practising! If a number line to 10 is too much for you to do, just do a number line to 5 if you like!
Mega Maths challenge - sorry for this one Mum's and Dad's and Carers
Today’s first activity is a maths challenge! You will need create a number line, a number line is a line that has numbers along the bottom, have a look at the number line in the picture below - an adult will help you create a number line (make sure the numbers are in the right order). Lay your number line and number cards on the floor. Count up and down your number line to remind yourselves of each number and the order of numbers. Once you have done that I want you to find as many shoes as you can around the house (remember to put these away after with your grown up). Then start at the number one by placing one shoe next to the number. Then go to number two and find two shoes to place next to the number two. Go all the way up to the number ten adding the correct number of shoes to the correct digit on the number line! This activity is essential as it encourages your child to understand quantity of objects in connection to number digits.
Day 6 of our 'Ready for Reception' challenge!
It is a Marvellous Monday and today our 'Ready for Reception' challenge is really exciting, we are doing some ordering of size and we are starting to learn our sounds with 'Read Write Inc'! Mrs Wroe will be so impressed that you are learning these sounds!
For our school starters
If you are starting Reception next year our home project is going to be slightly different for the next few weeks. We are preparing our school starters for Reception, everyone starting school next year will be given a small daily challenge. This will support us to work with the children and give them individual and personal targets. The daily challenge shouldn't take very long so don't forget there are lots of other things you can do everyday to keep the wonderful learning going; see 'Daily Activities' table!
For our children returning to or starting Nursery
For our Nursery children, I have also put together some targets and challenges for you to work towards to help you get ready for when you return to or start Nursery.
For all children and parents
Please send photos of you doing your challenges! They can go into your learning journals to show off all the amazing things you are learning at home. If you need any support in anyway please do not hesitate to text me on Class Dojo...

All of our Nursery children enjoy coming to nursery, it is our priority that they feel safe, valued and secure. We ensure that they learn in a stimulating environment filled with wonder and awe. We give them a wide range of experiences that inspire them to become independent learners, learners that are happy to actively learn, explore, be creative and think critically about the challenges that they embark upon. Our fully qualified teachers scaffold, support and extend the children in their learning enabling them to achieve the most they can in the earliest years of life.
We wholeheartedly encourage you as parents and carers to be fully involved in Nursery life and help to plan your child's next steps in their learning. You are your child's first and foremost carer and we know that together we can achieve wonderful things for them! We are here to work for them and help them to progress and we know that with your support our Nursery children will make accelerated progress in all areas of the curriculum.
Learning outside the Classroom is an integral part of our learning. We plan many exciting lessons outside and believe that the outdoor environment offers a natural stimulus in which the children can ask questions and enhance their learning without fear of failure. You will see lots of the wonderful learning your children are doing all around our Nursery Classroom, we celebrate all children’s achievements on our learning walls. Please have a look at our Notice Board to keep up to date with the events and activities your child will be taking part in - it is going to be a very exciting year!
